HEARING STORM

HEARING STORM

What is sudden deafness?

Hearing loss is a sudden one-sided hearing loss that can be accompanied by a ringing in the ears.

What are the causes of sudden hearing loss?

As with tinnitus, the causes are unclear. An acute disorder of the auditory cells of the inner ear is suspected, which can be triggered by viruses, circulatory disorders or stress. Your ORL doctor will carry out a detailed diagnosis.

How is it treated?

A sudden loss of hearing should be treated as soon as possible by your GP or ORL doctor. So far there is no standardized therapy. The most commonly used drugs are those that promote blood circulation and cortisone. The percentage of spontaneous healing of a sudden hearing loss is not certain.
