The aim of the event is to inform and network as well as to provide knowledge and assistance.

All interested parties are welcome to come and talk to people with tinnitus and specialists from research, diagnostics and therapy.

With this event on subjective tinnitus, Pro Audito Switzerland and the Swiss Tinnitus League would like to jointly provide serious information for people with tinnitus and specialists, and report on the latest research and possible therapies.

“Together against tinnitus – self-help groups meet digital technologies”

This event shows tinnitus sufferers how they can help themselves and focuses on the benefits of self-help groups

Resignation of the member of the Executive Board

Resignation as of July 31, 2024

Due to personal and professional changes, which take up a lot of time and energy, Andreas Wernli is stepping down from the STL Board. The decision was not an easy one. He will endeavor to attend the AGM 2025 so that he can say goodbye to everyone in person.

Announcement of the 34th General Meeting

The 34th General Assembly of the STL will take place this year on May 25, 2024 at 2 p.m. in Zurich.

Our goal for the coming year is to expand and rebuild the homepage and make the events on offer more recognizable and visible. At the same time, we will also strive for coordination with Young Tinnitus in Germany, as many young people now suffer from tinnitus. Let us surprise you.

A big thank you goes to my colleagues on the Board of Directors, who have always given me the best possible support, and to the members of the Scientific Advisory Board for their valuable input.

Following the AGM, Dr. sc. mus. Elisabeth Sigron gave a lecture on “Tinnitus and mindfulness of the heart”.

Three-country conference ÖTL/DTL/STL

The three-country conference of the ÖTL, DTL and STL took place in Maria Plain near Salzburg from October 6-8, 2023. 60 members of the three tinnitus leagues took part, including four from Switzerland. The conference was excellently organized and carried out and offered very good opportunities to get to know each other, exchange ideas and network. Many thanks to PD Dr. phil. Roland Moschèn, President of ÖTL, and his team for this unforgettable conference!

In memoriam Thomas Schmidhauser

(30. 11. 1947 – 11. 8. 2023)

It is with sadness that we remember honorary STL member Thomas Schmidhauser, who for many years was both Central Secretary of Pro Audito Switzerland and Vice-President of the STL. We will always remember his tireless commitment to those affected by hearing loss, tinnitus, hyperacusis and Meniere’s disease and his great services to the STL with gratitude.

Report on the 33rd General Meeting of the STL

In the Tinnitus Forum 3-2023 Rainer H. Porschien reports on the 33rd General Assembly of the STL in Zurich and introduces the new STL Board.

At the 33rd General Assembly of the STL on April 22, 2023 in Zurich, PD Dr. Dr. Andreas Schapowal was awarded honorary membership after 21 years on the Board, 20 of which as President. He was also elected to the Scientific Advisory Board.

Katja Kneip was also dismissed from the Board after three years; she received a certificate of thanks and a gift in recognition of her valuable commitment to those affected by Meniere’s disease.

Former Vice President Rainer H. Porschien was elected as the new President. Loredana Figliola was elected as a new member of the Board of Directors and will take over the Finance department. The current Board members Helmut Wülker, Dr. Dominik Güntensperger and Andreas Wernli were re-elected. Béa Bieber was elected as the new auditor.

Research Prize 2022

Dr. Suyi Hu, research engineer at the University of Bern, received the STL Research Award 2022 for his outstanding dissertation “Bayesian brain-inspired computational modeling of tinnitus and residual inhibition” at the board meeting on 8. 1. 2022 in Zurich. We wish Dr. Hu every success for his future work at the ARTORG Center for Biomedical Engineering Research!

Tinnitus symposium at the fall meeting of the SGORL 2021

On 12. 11. 2021 the tinnitus symposium “From tinnitus research to therapeutic application” took place at the fall meeting of the SGORL in Interlaken. Dr. Suyi Hu from Bern (right) gave the lecture “residual inhibition of tinnitus: computational modelling and potential clinical applications”. Dr. Richard Mansky from Zurich (left) spoke about “preventing effects of music on cognitive decline”. A lively discussion concluded this interesting event.

Tinnitus lecture in Küsnacht

PD Dr. Dr. Andreas Schapowal, President of the STL, gave a lecture on holistic tinnitus therapy in the parish hall of the Catholic Church of St. George in Küsnacht ZH on November 2, 2021. The presentation was followed by a lively discussion. We would like to thank our member Dr. Hans-Jakob Ravens, ENT specialist in Küsnacht, for the perfect organization!

Research award for Dr. phil. Constanze Riha

Dr. phil. Constanze Riha received the STL research prize on April 17, 2021 for her outstanding dissertation at the University of Zurich on “Developing individual neurofeedback protocols for tinnitus treatment”.
